Story
Sparrow is a dark-comedy / thriller that follows the story of Damien, a reclusive young man who lives alone deep in the forest. His life takes an unexpected turn when he befriends a common house sparrow he names Sally, inviting her into his home. However, as time passes, Damien begins to experience strange and unsettling occurrences. What he initially thought was a harmless bond with nature soon begins to feel much darker. Is Sally really just a harmless sparrow? Or is there something more sinister at play?
This is a surreal, humourous, and visually intriguing film, to be edited in a grainy black-and-white style, used to enhance its unsettling atmosphere.
The Journey
"Sparrow" originated as a short monologue written in 2023 as an initial creative experiment. From the outset, the goal was to begin exploring the concept visually, even in its early stages. We assembled a small team to produce a rough proof of concept, capturing the essence of the project as the script was still developing. While the resulting video differs significantly from the current version, it offers a glimpse into the project's early evolution and serves as a reference point for how far the concept has progressed.
